Bridge Design and Construction Engineering firm, Finley Engineering Group (FINLEY) is proud to welcome Juan David Herrera to FINLEY’s Bridge Internship Program.
Juan David is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering for the University of Florida. He has worked as a student research assistant for the Florida Department of Transportation in the materials testing lab and has participated in conducting tests on concrete specimens. He is an active member of the Structural Engineering Institute and the American Society of Structural Engineers.
“I chose FINLEY because of the company’s vision of modern design and construction of bridges around the world. FINLEY staff gave me very impressive feedback about the company internship program. I am excited about having the opportunity to gain experience working on real projects while still being an undergraduate student.” said Juan David.
Designed to provide promising students an opportunity to develop their skills and grow professionally, FINLEY’s summer internship program offers two paid summer internships each year. The interns are assigned to one of our design and/or construction engineering projects. Interns work at an entry level bridge engineering position and are given modeling assignments that are suitable for their level of experience and education. FINLEY integrates the construction methodology into the design. To accomplish this, FINLEY utilizes full bridge information modeling (BrIM) using SOFiSTiK software. This software dramatically reduces the time spent in modeling bridge projects including the variation of cross sections, construction stages, vehicle loading, and post tensioning. Our philosophy is based on teamwork, ethical conduct and mutual trust; we are dedicated to fostering a work environment that excites, enriches and personally rewards the individual. We believe in personal performance improvement through hands on project immersion, constructive evaluations and one-on-one mentoring.
“Our clients come to FINLEY for creative solutions to the most demanding bridge engineering and construction challenges of our era. FINLEY is a dynamic organization constantly seeking to expand and enhance our capabilities by attracting the best and brightest talent. We are very excited to have Juan David join our internship program.” said Craig Finley, P.E., President, FINLEY.
FINELY posts internship opportunities on the FINLEY website, Facebook and LinkedIn pages as well as many University Career Center websites. For more information go to http://www.finleyengineeringgroup.com/index.cfm/careers/internship
