JOHN FISHER HAS BEEN SELECTED FOR THE 2014 BRIDGE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM AT FINLEY

Tallahassee, FL (June 23, 2014). Bridge design and construction engineering firm, Finley Engineering Group (FINLEY), has selected John Fisher for FINLEY’s 2014 Bridge Internship Program.

John is pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering at the University at Buffalo and he expects to graduate in 2014. His elective courses included steel design, reinforced concrete design, and foundations engineering. John is also on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve, where he has served for three years.

“I’ve always been fascinated by bridges and wanted very much to gain some experience in complex bridge design. I am excited about the opportunity at FINLEY, especially because of the firm’s reputation for being a leader in innovative bridge design. I am highly motivated and excited to begin my career with FINLEY” said John.

John will assigned to the Bayonne Bridge Project located in New York and New Jersey. This project raises the bridge deck by 64 feet to allow the new super container ships to dock at Port Newark and the Elizabeth Port Authority Marine Terminals in New Jersey, and at Howland Hook on Staten Island in New York. FINLEY is providing construction engineering services for the precast concrete segmental approach structures that will be built using a launching gantry.

“We are very excited to have John on our team. Our clients come to FINLEY for creative solutions to the most demanding bridge engineering and construction challenges of our era. Our bridge internship program allows us to expand and enhance our capabilities by attracting the best and brightest talent.” said Craig Finley, Jr., P.E. President, FINLEY.

About the FINLEY Internship Program

FINLEY’s summer internship program is designed to provide promising students an opportunity to develop their skills and grow professionally. The interns are assigned to one of our design and/or construction engineering projects.

Interns work at an entry level bridge engineering position and are given engineering assignments that are suitable for their level of experience and education. Our philosophy is based on teamwork, ethical conduct and mutual trust; we are dedicated to fostering a work environment that excites, enriches and personally rewards each individual. We believe in personal performance improvement through hands on project immersion, constructive evaluations and one-on-one mentoring.
