MORE GROWTH FOR BRIDGE SPECIALIST FINLEY ENGINEERING GROUP
Firm Adds Industry Veterans Craig Allen and Jerry Pfuntner to expanding staff
TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – Bridge engineering and construction consultant Finley Engineering Group (FINLEY) has added senior bridge engineers Craig Allen, P.E., and Jerry Pfuntner, P.E., to its growing staff of bridge industry specialists.
Allen and Pfuntner rejoin FINLEY founder Craig Finley, who they worked with previously as members of Finley McNary Engineers (FME) and Parsons Corporation.
“I’m really pleased to be working with Craig and Jerry again,” says Finley, whose 15-month-old firm now has 10 full-time employees. “I consider them two of the brightest minds in the bridge design and con- struction industry today, and having them with us at FINLEY adds tremendously to our depth and exper- tise.”
With more than 15 years of national and international experience, Craig Allen has filled several differ- ent roles on a broad range of bridge types, sizes, and locations. This includes serving as project manager on the Memorial Causeway Bridge Retrofit in Clearwater, Florida, as team leader for the comprehensive inspection of the Zilwaukee Bridge superstructure and deck for the Michigan Department of Transporta- tion, and as design engineer for the V-shaped precast segmental prestressed piers on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Replacement Project on the Potomac River. He is also proficient in a wide variety of structural analysis and bridge engineering software programs.
Allen earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Witwatersrand University in South Africa. He is a member of the American Segmental Bridge Institute (ASBI), the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), and the South African Institution of Civil Engineers (SAICE).
Prior to joining FINLEY, Jerry Pfuntner was with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), where he served as the Area Structures Engineer in Districts 1 and 6. In that position, he was responsible for plans review and approval of all Category 2 bridge structures within his districts. Previously as a member of FME and Parsons, Pfuntner served as project manager and project engineer on a diverse group of projects, including the Foothills Parkway Bridges in Tennessee, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Replacement, and the Paradise Island Bridge in the Bahamas.
Pfuntner earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering and his Masters of Engineering from the University of Florida. He is a member of ASBI and the Florida Engineering Society, which named him Young Engineer of the Year in 1999.
Founded in 2004, Finley Engineering Group is a nationally recognized engineering and construction consulting firm specializing in complex bridge projects of all kinds.
